Official Rules
2-Ball Team Scramble
A 2-Ball Scramble is a competition format that is exactly what it sounds like: a scramble in which the teams consist of two players each. After each shot, the best of the two shots is selected and both players play from that spot. Repeat, until the ball is holed.
Format
On the first tee, both golfers will hit their drives. Please compare the results. Which ball is in the best position? Let's say Golfer B's drive is best. So Golfer A picks up his ball and moves it to the location of Golfer B's. Both golfers hit their second shots from that location. They compare the results of the second strokes and, again, select the ball in the best position. The other golfer moves his or her ball to that location. And so on, until the golf ball is holed to record the team score.
1) Ball Placement (Outside of Putting Green)
All balls must be played one club length from the ball that is selected, no closer to the hole and can be placed in position ONCE. The player whose drive has been selected may also mark, lift, clean and replace their ball within 1 club length of the original position.
For example: A ball that is selected that lies in the rough just off the fairway may not be played from the fairway, even if it is within one club length and no closer to the hole. Also if the ball lay on the fringe it MUST also be placed on the fringe.
2) Ball Placement (On the Putting Green)
All balls must be played one scorecard width from the ball that is selected, no closer to the hole. However, all balls must remain on the green and can not be moved off the green.
3) Shot Minimum
Each player is required to have 4 tee shots MINIMUM chosen during the round.
4) Putt in Policy
To speed up the pace of play, participants may putt in their ball into the hole instead of marking it, with the lowest total strokes recorded.
For example: Player 1 hits a putt and it ends up two feet from the hole on the 3rd stroke. Player 1 may tap in the ball for a total score of 4. However, Player 2 can still make the 3rd stroke for a total team score of 3 instead of 4
5) Extension of Line
Team members may stand behind a team member, or in an extension of their line, while the golfer is making a stroke.
6) Distance Measuring Device
Players may use approved distance measuring devices in accordance with the rules of the United States Golf Association.
7) Handicaps
The player’s team handicap is decided by the handicap committee. Handicaps are 35% of the lower handicap added to 15% of the higher handicap and rounded up or down to the nearest whole number.
8) Ties
Ties will be determined by the teams final 9 hole team score.
9) Local Rule
If both players hit their tee shots OB, then the `play 4` local rule will be enforced and the players will play from the designated yellow markers.
10) Tee marker
Men will play from the BMW markers and ladies to play from the Red Tees.
11) Scorecards
Each scorecard will have 1 team score per hole. The total score minus the handicap will give the net score. The net score will be used for the competition placings.
Please hand your completed scorecard to the scorekeeper table after the round.
